The Source Code was a dream Role for her

She has starred in a black comedy, a spy thriller and a romcom, but actor Michelle Monaghan, 35, fulfilled her dream of acting in a sci-fi with Duncan Jones’ Source Code.“I haven’t really ventured into sci-fi as a genre. I’ve done a lot of other things, but sci-fi was not one of them.
So I really thought, “Wow. Why not go on this endeavour with somebody as cool, young and energetic as Duncan Jones?” says the actor, who rubs shoulders with Jake Gyllenhaal and Vera Farmiga in the outing.

Not many know that Monaghan had to do the same scene 12 different times considering the theme of the film that shows Gyllenhaal’s character test driving a top-secret program that inserts an operative into a parallel reality to assume someone else’s identity.“That was the challenge. The first source code was the most challenging. Fortunately, we got to shoot them chronologically,” she says. Now that she’s done it, is she open to doing more sci-fi movies?“Yeah, I’d be open to doing it. I just received one, I haven’t read it yet. It’s kind of a sci-fi love story,” she says. Monaghan will be next seen opposite Gerard Butler in action biopic Machine Gun Preacher and in Indie movie Better Living Through Chemistry opposite Jeremy Renner.
