Battle of gorgeous gowns at Academy Awards


Black Swan stars Nataile Portman and Mila Kunis lead the parade of glamorous stars on the red carpet at the Academy Awards. The pregnant star, who went on to win best actress, put her bump on show in an off-the-shoulder purple gown by Rodarte. Of course the 29-year-old is no stranger to the designer, who was responsible for the costumes in Black Swan. She admitted that she is is looking forward to putting her feet up after the awards season is over.

Kunis also revealed that prior to signing up for Black Swan she had all her meetings with director Darren Aronofsky via Skype. And she played down the fact she had already trained in ballet prior to making the film. 'I learned how to fake it very quickly,' she said modestly.
The King's Speech stars Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter both flew the flag for Britain on the red carpet.
Firth, who was accompanied by his wife Livia, said he felt he had ‘wedding day nerves'. The 50-year-old said he was ‘various shades of nervousness and feeling rather good’ about the prospect of winning his first Oscar.
His 'lucky charm' Tom Ford suit did the trick - he went on to win the best actor category. As he showed off the diamond studs on his white shirt he said the process of making the King’s Speech in London was extraordinary.
